What we collect
Browsing this site
Our host, Cloudflare, processes technical data necessary to deliver and secure the service (IP address, browser type, request timestamps).
Signing up for a guide or the newsletter
Some pages offer a free guide or a newsletter. When you sign up we collect your email address, and where the form asks for them, the type of business you run and a revenue band. These are held by our email provider, Kit (Kit.com, Inc.), which sends you a confirmation email before anything else is sent. Every email carries a one-click unsubscribe link.
Audience measurement
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts page views without cookies and without building any profile, and we count a few anonymous actions on our own servers, for instance how many people used the calculator. Neither stores an identifier, so neither can be linked back to you. This runs whether or not you accept advertising cookies.
Proof of consent
When you accept or decline in the cookie banner, we record the choice, the date, the wording you were shown, and a one-way hash of your IP address. This exists so we can demonstrate that consent was properly obtained, as the GDPR requires. It is kept for three years and used for nothing else.
Advertising measurement
If, and only if, you accept it in the consent banner, we load the Meta pixel. It tells us which of our ads led to a sign-up. When you submit a sign-up form we also send Meta a copy of that event from our server, including your email address in hashed (irreversible) form, so the two can be matched to a single event rather than counted twice. Both are subject to the same consent: decline, and neither runs.
Fonts
Typefaces are loaded from Google Fonts. This transmits your IP address to Google servers located in the United States.
Booking a call
The “Book a call” buttons link to Calendly, a third-party service. If you book a slot, the data you provide (name, email address, and anything entered in the form) is collected and processed by Calendly, then passed to us so we can arrange the call.
Email correspondence
If you write to us, we keep your message and contact details for as long as needed to handle your enquiry and manage the business relationship.
Purposes and legal bases
- Responding to enquiries and arranging calls: steps taken at your request prior to entering a contract.
- Operating and securing the site: our legitimate interest in providing a reliable, protected service.
- Managing the business relationship: performance of a contract, or legitimate interest as applicable.
Recipients and transfers
Your data is never sold or traded. It may be processed by our technical providers, acting either as processors or as independent controllers:
- Cloudflare, Inc.: site hosting and security.
- Calendly LLC: call scheduling.
- Google LLC: font delivery and business email.
- Kit.com, Inc.: sending emails and managing the mailing list.
- Meta Platforms, Inc.: advertising measurement, where you have consented to it.
Some of these providers are established in the United States, so transfers outside the European Union may occur. These are governed by the mechanisms provided for under the GDPR, in particular standard contractual clauses or the Data Privacy Framework.
Retention
Correspondence relating to a business enquiry is kept for three years from the last contact. Contractual and accounting records are kept for the periods required by law. Technical logs held by our host are kept for a short period defined by them.
Your rights
Under Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR) and the French Data Protection Act, you have the following rights:
- Access: obtain a copy of the data we hold about you.
- Rectification: have inaccurate data corrected.
- Erasure: request deletion of your data.
- Restriction and objection: limit or object to certain processing.
- Portability: receive your data in a structured format.
To exercise these rights, write to [email protected]. You may also lodge a complaint with the French data protection authority, the CNIL (cnil.fr).
Cookies
Cookies strictly necessary to the operation and security of the service may be set by our host. These do not require prior consent.
Beyond those, this site uses one category of non-essential cookie: advertising measurement, via the Meta pixel. It is not loaded until you accept it, and declining leaves the site fully functional. Your choice is stored in your browser for six months, after which you are asked again.
You can change your mind at any time: reopen cookie settings. You may also block or delete cookies through your browser settings.
Third-party services you are redirected to, such as Calendly, apply their own cookie policies.
Changes
This policy may be updated to reflect changes to the site or to applicable regulation. The date of the latest update appears at the top of this page.
